What affiliate links are
Some articles include links to tickets, streaming services, books, recordings or products relevant to what we are covering. A number of these are affiliate links, which means may receive a small commission from the retailer or platform if you make a purchase after clicking. The price you pay is never higher because of it.
Always disclosed
Where a piece contains affiliate links, we say so clearly. We follow the disclosure guidance of the relevant advertising authorities, including the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC), so that readers always know when a commercial relationship exists behind a link.
No influence on editorial judgement
Affiliate relationships never determine what we review, how we rate it or what we recommend. Our reviews and criticism reflect the independent judgement of named critics, in line with our Ethics Policy and Independence Policy. We link to something because it is relevant, not because it earns a commission.
Why we use them
Commissions from affiliate links are one of several revenue streams that help fund independent cultural journalism, alongside advertising and partnerships. How we are owned and funded is set out in full on our Ownership & Funding page.
